This is a listing of characters in The Land Before Time, a series of blithe children's films. Cosmos and development [edit]

The idea for The Country Before Time came during production of An American Tail. Steven Spielberg's studio Amblin Amusement was interested in doing a film nearly dinosaurs, which were popular at the time, leading Spielberg, director Don Bluth, and producer George Lucas to develop the prehistoric setting and its cast. Inspired by the dinosaur-themed "Rite of Spring" sequence from Disney's Fantasia, Spielberg had originally intended for the moving picture to take no speech, with music cues and body language telling the story, effectively rendering all the characters mute. However, it was decided that the film could non carry a story without dialogue, and each character was given language accordingly. The picture show's artists used the Fantasia sequence and characters as guides when creating their first concept art.^{[half dozen]}

Littlefoot, voiced by Gabriel Damon (I), Scott McAfee (Two-Four), Brandon LaCroix (V), Thomas Dekker (singing voice, V; singing and speaking, VI-IX), Alec Medlock (X), Aaron Spann (XI), Nick Price (XII), Cody Arens (13-Telly series), Logan Arens (XIII), Anthony Skillman (singing vocalisation, XIII-Boob tube series) and Felix Avitia (XIV), is a dark-brown male person Apatosaurus, or "Long Neck".^[1] His nativity marks the commencement of the very offset picture show. Ducky and Spike's Mother [edit]

Ducky and Spike's mother, voiced by Tress MacNeille (II-XII, TV series) and Meghan Strange (Fourteen), is a chocolate-brown Saurolophus who appears in most of the movies. (Ducky and Fasten'south father appears in the initial moving picture and The State Before Time Eight: The Big Freeze.) Their mother is a kindly, attentive figure, and is treated with respect by all children and adults in the Swell Valley. She occasionally has doubts on whether to raise Spike in keeping with her ain values or with those of his racial heritage; this was seen in The Land Earlier Fourth dimension Eight: The Big Freeze when a herd met and befriended Spike. She is their guide through the 'Land of Mists' through which her family formerly traveled. Ali appears once again in the Telly episode "The Brave Longneck Scheme".

Mr. Thicknose [edit]

The elderly Mr. Thicknose is voiced by Robert Guillaume (Viii) and Dorian Harewood (Boob tube serial) is an sometime male Pachyrhinosaurus. Hyp, Mutt and Nod are a trio of adolescent dinosaurs, who beginning appeared in The Land Before Time III: The Time of the Great Giving, in which they often quarrel with Littlefoot, Cera, and the others. Chomper's parents [edit]

Chomper's parents are featured in Chomper's first two film appearances. They are sexually dimorphic, with Chomper'due south male parent being dark greenish and his female parent having an olive greenish color. They are very protective of their son, as when they invade the Great Valley to search for his egg in The State Before Time 2: The Slap-up Valley Adventure, and fighting to protect him in The Land Before Time V: The Mysterious Island. Kosh, voiced by Rob Paulsen (III, minus 5), Jeff Bennett (XI – XII, Tv set series) and Pete Sepenuk (TV series), is a gluttonous, pink Ankylosaurus who appears in some of The Land Earlier Fourth dimension films and the Television set series. Foobie, voiced by Pete Sepenuk, is a mute "Yellowish Belly" who is considered the wise one of his herd. Foobie makes friends with Fasten. He appears in The Land Before Time 13: The Wisdom of Friends.

Hidden Runner [edit]

Hidden Runner, voiced by Rob Paulsen, is a green and blue Ornithomimus whose just appearance is in the Tv set series episode "The Chilling Nighttime Take a chance." Hidden Runner has the ability to blend in with its habitat due to its multi-colored markings.

Loofah is the cheerful leader of a herd of Yellow bellies who are looking for the Drupe Valley. Doofah is a prominent female in her herd, and is equally friendly and optimistic. Both of them have curt-term memory loss and are motivated by impulsive needs.

Milo, Lydia and Plower are featured in the TV episode "Stranger From the Mysterious Above". They believe Spike to be "The Big Wise Ane". Milo was voiced by Rob Paulsen, Plower by Meghan Strange, and Lydia by Anndi McAfee.

Archie is a male Archelon who lives in a cave system just outside the Land of Mists. He appears in The Land Earlier Time Iv: Journeying Through the Mists where he guides Littlefoot and his friends through the caves. He is voiced past Charles Durning.

Tickles [edit]

Tickles appears in The Country Earlier Fourth dimension IV: Journey Through the Mists. He is voiced by Frank Welker.

Elsie [edit]

Elsie is a green female Elasmosaurus who returns Littlefoot, Ducky, Cera, Petrie, and Spike to their families at the end of The Country Before Fourth dimension 5: The Mysterious Island. She is voiced past Christina Pickles.

Dinah and Dana [edit]

Dinah and Dana are Cera'due south niece and nephew who appear in The Land Before Fourth dimension Six: The Undercover of Saurus Rock. They are voiced by Sandy Fox and Nancy Cartwright.

Sue [edit]

Sue saved Littlefoot from a Belly Dragger past crushing its face in The State Earlier Time 10: The Slap-up Longneck Migration. Sue is kind and gentle. She is voiced by Bernadette Peters.

Pat [edit]

Pat appears in The Land Before Time 10: The Great Longneck Migration and is voiced by James Garner.

Saro [edit]

Saro is an quondam friend of Grandfather Longneck, who has been interested in the stories of the longnecks all his life. He appears in the episode of the TV episode "The Legend of the Story Speaker". He is voiced by Pete Sepenuk.

Rainbow Faces [edit]

Rainbow Faces announced in The Land Earlier Time VII: The Stone of Cold Fire. They show scientific knowledge exceeding that attributed to other characters. The male Rainbow Face up also appears in The Invasion of the Tinysauruses.

Dara [edit]

Dara is a wandering female Diplodocus who first appeared in the TV episode "The Solitary Dinosaur Returns". She is the lady-friend of Doc, the "Alone Dinosaur". She is voiced by Susan Blu.

Swooper [edit]

Petrie and Guido run into the blind and elderly Swooper in Black Rock in the TV episode "The Hermit of Blackness Rock". He is voiced by Jess Harnell.

Skip [edit]

Skip appears in the episode "Return to Hanging Rock". He is voiced by Jeff Bennett.

Etta [edit]

Etta appears in The State Before Time: Journey of the Brave. After Littlefoot meets her while looking for shelter during a "Sand cloud", she forces Littlefoot into a cave. To cheer up the downtrodden Longneck, Etta tells Littlefoot to "expect for the calorie-free". Etta has a burn marking on her arm when a small lava bomb hit her when she was about a volcano called Fire Mountain. She is voiced by Reba McEntire.

Wild Arms [edit]

Wild Arms notifies Littlefoot and the rest of the valley that Bron has been imperiled in the Mysterious Beyond.

Wild Artillery is selfish, cowardly and somewhat mean spirited. He is narcissistic and reluctant to help others. He is voiced by Damon Wayans Jr..

Antagonists [edit]

Sharptooth [edit]

Sharptooth is a strong, athletic and powerful Tyrannosaurus and the chief antagonist of the first flick, injured in pursuit of Littlefoot and Cera, and the slayer of Littlefoot's female parent. Having fallen into a crack in the world during an earthquake, he remains comatose until awoken by Cera and thereafter pursues them until the end of the motion-picture show, wherein they drown him in a lake.

In the volume adaptation of the start moving picture, he appears to have a grudge against them subsequently Littlefoot inadvertently injured his right eye; during his first run across with him.

Ozzy and Strut [edit]

Ozzy and Strut appear in The State Earlier Fourth dimension II: The Slap-up Valley Adventure. They are driven from the Valley by Chomper'due south parents. Ozzy is voiced by Jeff Bennett and Strut is voiced by Rob Paulsen both with British accents.

Dil and Ichy [edit]

Dil and Ichy announced in The Land Before Time IV: Journey Through the Mists. Dil is a female person "big-mouthed bellydragger". Ichy is a male "precipitous beak". They pursue Littlefoot and his friends throughout the motion picture, but often quarrel among themselves, partly considering of the lack of food and partly because Dil is very nearsighted. Dil is voiced by Tress MacNeille and Ichy is voiced past Jeff Bennett.

Red Claw [edit]

Red Hook is voiced by Pete Sepenuk. He has a distinctive scar extending from his left eye to his left hand and bright red claws. He separated Chomper and Ruby from their families leading them to move to the Dandy Valley. He appears in various episodes of the testify.^{[ vague ]}

Screech and Thud [edit]

Screech and Thud are a pair of Deinonychus, voiced past Pete Sepenuk and Rob Paulsen, respectively, are companions of Carmine Claw.

Pterano [edit]

Pterano, voiced by Michael York, is a orange and brown Pteranodon and Petrie and his siblings' uncle, just exiled from the herd for abandoning his own followers.

Rinkus and Sierra [edit]

Rinkus and Sierra are the henchmen of Pterano in The Land Before Time Vii: The Stone of Cold Burn. Rinkus is voiced by Rob Paulsen with a Cockney accent and Sierra is voiced by Jim Cummings.

Great Hideous Fauna [edit]

The Slap-up Hideous Creature (voiced by Dorian Harewood) appears in the Television episode "Stranger From the Mysterious Above".
